Sara is in the garden. She is looking at the flowers. She hears a sound. It is small. It goes "Woof! Woof!"
Sara looks around. She says, "What is this?"
She walks to the fence. She sees a small dog. The dog is brown and white. It looks at Sara.
"It is a dog!" she says. Sara smiles. "Hello, dog!" she says.
The dog wags its tail. It comes closer to the fence. Sara sits down next to the fence.
"Are you lost?" Sara asks. The dog does not answer. It just looks at her with big eyes.
Sara runs to the house. "Mom! Dad! Come and see!" she says.
Mom and Dad come outside. They see the little dog too.
"What is this?" Sara says again, pointing.
"It is a dog," Dad says. "It does not have a collar. Maybe it is lost."
Mom brings a bowl of water. She puts it near the fence. The dog drinks the water. It drinks a lot.
Sara pets the dog gently. The dog's fur is soft. The dog licks Sara's hand. Sara laughs.
"Can we keep it?" Sara asks.
"We need to find its family first," Dad says. "Maybe someone is looking for their dog."
Dad takes a photo of the dog. He wants to ask the neighbors.
Sara stays with the dog. She talks to it. "You are a good dog," she says. The dog sits next to her.
A woman walks down the street. She calls out, "Buddy! Buddy!"
The dog jumps up. It runs to the woman. It wags its tail fast.
"Buddy!" the woman says. "There you are!" She looks at Sara. "Thank you for helping my dog," she says.
Sara smiles. "You're welcome," she says. "Buddy is a good dog."
The woman and Buddy walk home. Sara waves.
"That was a good adventure," Sara says. "I made a new friend today."
See you next time, Sara!
